Doors: 7:00, Show Time: 8:15
Running time: 106 minutes
Paul, a man in his thirties lives in Paris with his two eccentric controlling, old aunts; aristocrats who have raised him since childhood and who always dress in matching outfits. Their dream is to see him become a virtuoso pianist, but Paul seems to be living in a dream world of his own. Mute since his parents’ tragic death when he was two, his life consists of the same daily routine, stuck between the grand piano in the living room and his aunts’ dance class, where he works as an accompanist. Cut off from the outside world, Paul has aged without having ever lived… Until the day he meets Madame Proust, his neighbor from the fourth floor. This unusual woman has the recipe for an herbal tea that, with the help of music, is able to bring back the most deeply buried memories. With Madame Proust’s help, Paul will discover his past and find the key to finally live his own life.
Writer-Director Sylvain Chomet (The Triplets of Belleville) has captured a delightful mix of comedy, music, and sumptuous magic realism, along with stellar performances from his cast, particularly in Guillaume Gouix (Beyond the Walls) as the silently expressive Paul and his rambunctious father, the wrestler Attila Marcel. Light-hearted, lovely, eccentric and gorgeous, Attila Marcel is a treat for the ears, eyes and heart.

This month’s Cause is very near and dear to all of us – it’s Reel Causes.
Reel Causes’ mission is to educate, inspire and engage the community around social justice, environmental and health-related issues using the power of film. We are a BC registered non-profit society that hosts social film screenings connecting audiences with filmmakers and organizations that work to address these causes. Our goal is to increase public awareness and dialogue around the work of these non-profits and foster connection and community-building among individuals to create positive change.
Our goal with Quirk-a-Palooza is to raise funds for our 2015 season so we can expand our support for the Community Causes we work with. Since 2010, Reel Causes has supported more than forty local non-profit organizations, helping them raise awareness and funds by matching their important work with great films and great dialogue. Although Reel Causes is a volunteer-run non-profit, there are still considerable costs involved with each Community Cause film screening event. With 90% of our income coming from ticket sales and memberships, we don’t always cover our expenses through these avenues alone.
Quirk-a-Palooza is a fun way to help Reel Causes continue creating exciting, engaging film events that connect audiences with Community Causes, filmmakers and change-makers. Events that provide film-goers with the inspiration and tools to create positive social change in their own ways.
So please come join us for an evening of eccentric delights – and help create change through the power of film!
We are thrilled to announce that musicians Alexandria Maillot and Clara Shandler “The Sidewalk Cellist,” will be joining the fabulous Symone for our pre-film entertainment line-up for Quirk-a-Palooza, and the list of amazing items for our silent auction continues to grow!

Reel Causes partners with filmmakers and Canadian causes dedicated to addressing global social justice issues. We host film screenings followed by a Q&A session to educate and inspire our community, and provide a forum for authentic conversation around the issues that affect us locally.
